Hello Sandra99b,

I don't know where you live, but this year we bought a wheelchair adapted vechicle so that we could accomodate my husband's all terrain mobilty scooter. There are many different conversions on the market. We have a Peugeot Expert because the scooter is quite large compared to most wheelchairs. There is an excellent garage in Leyland Lancs run by a chap called Glenn Stafford. He is very helpful and he only sells wheelchair adapted vechicles, both new and 2nd hand. The garage is called Thorntrees garage and they have a website . If you live far away, I'm sure he would be able to put you in touch with a garage somewhere nearer to you, although I don't think there are that many specialist garages in the country.

Hope this is helpful to you.Best wishes in your search.

Hi

I have a Rav4 with hoist fitted in the boot to lift my powerchair in. It was fitted by a firm in Driffield East Yorkshhire calles Alfred Bekker they also do WAV and have a range on display both new a pre used. If you only need to lift something into a vehicle then maybe a hoist fitted into a suitable vehicle is another alternative and possibly cheaper. If you get DLA at the higher rate then you could ask Motability for help and advice, I didn't use them as we were not able to get a suitable vehicle for us (needed to have 4x4 with boot opening on a hinge to the side as I can not reach up to close due to torn rotator cuff)

There is another place in Lincoln that does adaptations but as dormouse says it depends where you are in the country these specialists are about but you have to search for them.

Hope this helps

thanks to everyone who replied. I was interested in reccomendations from people with a wav. I've just seen on the mobility site that vauxhall now do one, a combo.
