I have recently broken out with hard itchy hives, that turn into crusted over lesions. They started on my right arm and hsve spread over back, chest, neck, and right arm. Some also down the side of both legs. It was first thought to be some sort of allergic reaction but after 6 weeks of unsuccessful photo therapy, it has been determined to be an auto immune rash. They are leaving ugly scars and nothing seems to get rid of them. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Do you have a confirmed diagnosis and have they biopsied the lesions?
It's difficult to comment without more information.
I have a confirmed diagnosis of prurigo Nodulares via a biopsy. All the symptoms of Lupus but negative anti ssa, positive anti ssb. (Sjorgrens syndrome). Elevated CRP and ESR. Anemia and elevated blood platelets
My mother suffered from Lupus and had skin lesions all over her body; it was considered discoid Lupus. Unfortunately, it was extremely difficult to to bring into remission. Plaquenil worked best.
Thank you. As photo therapy, amitriptyline, and methotrexate have not worked. That is the next step
I had this rash, it's agonizingly itchy and leaves ugly scars. A punch biopsy by dermatology diagnosed Nodular Prurigo. Then I showed it my Rheumy and she said it was Rheumatoid Vasculitis, displaying as NP. She started me on very high dose Pred, and 5 infusions of Methyl Pred. Was eventually given 7.5 mg MTX, also had Rituximab. Hope this helps. xx
