My husbands stayed in for about 6 mths & worked theirselves out naturally.

I'm not sure what name my husband's were, because we were in France, but they were put in his ears to help them drain because of his hearing loss. I've kept one as a souvenir!! I'd get it checked, may be a different type, perhaps meant to be there long term.

Hi, had mine put in August 2012 & it's still there. Had a follow up appt a couple of weeks ago, consultant said usually stay in between 6-18 months & then fall out naturally. I've got my GP to check if it's still there a couple of times.

He had them done 4 years ago we know there still there as doc has told us I'm wanting to know if they can cause problems as he's having lots of pain and GT an infection in it now

Mine only lasted a mater of a few weeks which is not unusual or unexpected as they are designed to be temporary. My subsequent T-tube (a larger, similar device is designed to last years rather than months) has only had to be replaced once in the last two years after it migrated naturally across the ear-drum and is still performing perfectly affording me near-restored hearing. With both devices I was told never to get water or soap into my ears due to the risk of infection. Healthy wishes.
