Felt rough for three days, cold and achey
Side effects started 8 hours after AZ vaccine 1. Lasted 60 hours, just about every flu symptom going. Raging fever and chills, dripping clammy skin, extreme nausea and tummy aches, severe headache, aching muscles, feeling extremely fragile out of bed. Everything eased in time, but it was quite dramatic. I am waiting my 2nd vaccine, probably due in the next fortnight.
Started with uncontrollable shivers after 12 hours and then felt really rough with flu like symptoms for 3 days
First dose of AstraZeneca.Side effects: temperature up to 38.4 for 48 hours. General malaise for 48 hours. Sore arm for a few days.
Really rough for 3 day, high temp 40 degrees plus and severe flu like symptoms
Minimal side effects, ultra tired with both doses, but definitely more so than on my ‘normal days’ - and aching bones with the 2nd jab
Had dreadful side effects for approximately 6 days after first Pfizer vaccination, side effects then subsided but triggered a flare up of PMR and GCA, Rheumatologist increased steroids this helped. Now had second vaccine 4 days ago and just going through a repeat of side effects.
Had a horrendous headache for 15 hours
Behcets patient. AZ vaccine 1, 2 awaited. Shivery overnight & feeling faint / unwell with flu like symptoms the next day.
I voted for 'no side effects from first dose'. I did have a slightly sore arm for a couple of daysbut I discounted this as the soreness was minimal & was rather like when I get the flu jab.
Within 10 mins of the first AZ vaccine, felt the vaccine travelling around left side of body, went into my face & bottom teeth started to hurt, head felt a bit weird, within a few hours felt spaced out & fuzzy headed, legs didn't work properly, felt unwell.Had sweats in the night & temperature on & off, then exhausted.Side effects lasted 9 days! Arm still has lump 4 weeks later. (Dreading second in May )
Pfizer..had first jab due second in next 10 days. No side effects.. bit of a sore arm for a day but thats it and I don't think really counts.
1st dose of AZ with nausea & headaches for 48 hrs
I had absolutely no side effects with first dose of pfizer. With the second dose I had a slightly sore arm and a day of feeling dizzy with increased fatigue
Fatigue and a headache the day after the jab. After that was ok.
Pfizer 1st dose. Sore arm, feelìng hot then cold, headache and every bone in my body ached. This lasted for three days.
I experienced a TIA 3 weeks after my first AZ vaccine. I had a stroke (blood clot) in 2008 from primary angiitis, but no flares until this TIA. Thankfully I am on Warfarin. Other side effects were the usual chills, headache and sore arm in the first 2 days after the vaccine. I am reluctant to risk the 2nd AZ dose.
First AZ vaccine next one due soon. Chills and aching but less than 24 hrs
Had Pfizer on Thursday, early January. Monday I was a bit grey then from Tuesday lunchtime to Wednesday lunchtime had the shits! Second jab, a couple of weeks ago, no probs!
Felt very lethargic and shivering for 7 days
Felt very tired few hours later. Had sleep few hours and fine but still have bruise 9weeks later at injection site
Ticked yes with side effects for the one dose of the AZ vaccine, but they weren’t very tiresome. Vaccine on Friday afternoon, then on Sunday afternoon I felt very tired and cross and went to bed. Fine on Monday morning.
1st dose Pfizer - Arm ache/tenderness at injection site, fatigue 24hrs.
Swollen right knee joint and pain, other joints stiff. Left side abdominal pain. Night sweats more than usual and really bad fatigue. OK after 24 hours.
Only slight side effects.
Mild flu like symptoms for 24hrs. No other problems
After the AZ vaccine, felt fluey and had intense itching on chest 24 hours after and again after 12 hours
A real corker of a headache the following day lasting 24 hours
Had 1st AZ was really poorly temp 39 physically sick, horrendous headaches, chills, fatigued soaking wet spent nearly a week in bed did speak to my consultant and she called a couple of times to check on me. 2nd jab pretty much the same without the sickness. Was worth it!!
AZ vaccine, minimal side effects - sickness and diarrhoea for two days, then absolutely fine.
Injection in morning, in evening severe shivers, then temperature, next day fatigued and achy.
Only 8 weeks since Rituximab but Consultant advised to go ahead.
I have GPA. Had 1st dose Pfizer in Jan and second dose last week. Other than the dead arm for about 24 hours no side effects at all. Both my wife and daughter have had both doses of Pfizer vaccine before I did ( wife is an Emergency Nurse Practitioner in A&E and daughter is a Midwife) neither had any side effects from their vaccines.
Tiredness days 2 to 5 after first dose. Delighted to have had a reaction but don't know if that means I have antibodies as no post dose testing to confirm. Off azathioprine, on 10mg pred
Felt very flu like the next day then about a week of being wiped out. No pain or problem with injection site.
Bit rough mild nausea in first 24 hours nothing really bad
Flu like my vasculitis symptoms for 24 hours then fine
Unable to sleep that evening and sore arm for few days but nothing serious
Couldn't stop shivering that night; nothing else then or since.
1st dose AZ no side effects
I had a mild fever, felt very tired and I had pain on arm for 3 days. I will have my second jab on 25th of April
I had flu like symptoms, shivering, headache, fatigue for 24 hours.
from Pennsylvania USA, Moderna. No side effects, slight site soreness
Really bad headache developed 3 days after first AZ vaccination which continued for two weeks. High blood pressure noted. Spoke to GP who thinks vaccination triggered flare.
Actually diagnosed with Covid 3 days after first AZ vaccine and was quite ill but not hospitalised. After 2nd AZ vaccine felt like I had Covid again and bad for about a week with easing of symptoms daily. Still suffering symptoms from having Covid but they’re getting better slowly.
Straight after I had the vaccine I got a metallic taste in my mouth and pins and needles/ numbness in both hands. 12 hours after a had a fever, was nauseous aching all over and feeling like I had the flu, this went on for 48 hours. For 4 weeks after I suffered a general feeling of not feeling well, it really made me feel worse than I normally do.
Side effects nausea, headache, chills, sore arm, tingling skin lasted around 48 hours
Extreme fatigue and general malaise for 48hrs.Then developed a very heavy arm 2 weeks later which was difficult to move for some weeks and is now lumpy - doctor diagnosed frozen shoulder but I’ve had that previously and I’m unsure. But he advised me to have my 2nd jab in my other arm.
AstraZeneca one dose and absolutely no side effects whatsoever except a sore upper arm for 1-2 days. Scared to get the second one though after today’s news.
I had a sore arm around site of first AZ . I felt as if I had mild flu with a headache for 4-5 days after the vaccination and was quite inactive during this time I took paracetamol for the headache
Headaches, muscle soreness all over but vaccine arm as if someone had punched it for 4 days, nosebleeds every day (v unusual), exhaustion, low mood. Only felt all of this lifting 6 days later. Concerned about the AZ being given to me without prior consideration of my health history. Not sure I want second one.
Oh forgot to add that I couldn't easily form sentences and lost some of my vocabulary and thought process.
Yes, I have had times when my thoughts were going far too fast and I have started to stutter in consequence. Also the bizarre sense of four or five different trains of thought trying to force themselves into words at the same time. Have had to stop myself trying to speak for a few minutes and then proceed a word at a time!
Having said that I have had no side effects with two doses of the Pfizer vaccine this was done at the time I stopped Prednisolone. Since then I have had oedema in my lower legs and a continued flare of Rheumatoid arthritis. I will be raising this point with my consultant when I see her this week.
First dose of AZ very fatigued and yawned a lot for two days with headache. 2nd dose, nausea, upset stomach, headache, hot flushes and fatigue/ sleeping a lot. Had it 36hrs ago and the sympoms are reducing in impact but still there.
TOTALLY WIPED ME OUT FOR 2 DAYS - SPENT ALL OF THIS ON SOFA, COULDN'T GET WARM AND VERY VERY TIRED
Dear John,
I was perhaps a little Tired, the day after the Vaccine, but i had had a Very busy day- so I can't be sure. My arm was perhaps a bit 'Stiff' but certainly Not for long. I shpild have my Second Jab, at the beginning of May.
Love to you both
AndrewT
I'm in the states and have had both shots, Moderna. I take Prednisone and Actemra (GCA) and had no side effects at all....I'm 80. 😉
I dose Pfizer followed by 2-3 days with headache that wasn’t affected by paracetamol and painful muscles around head/neck/shoulders. Felt rubbish generally Suggest monitor for antibodies at every visit for infusion to build picture of medication’s effect on efficacy of vaccination
Yes with first dose off az
I was very tired had no engery the first day . The second day my armWas sore headaches body aches it took at least two weeks to feel more normal
Generalised aching of joints and muscles with shivering. Started three days after jab and lasted for 24 hours.
Felt dreadful , painful muscles and bones for one day, exhausted for a week.
Feeling of sickness the following day only
Slight numbing in arm
It started about 2 days after the jab. Felt very rough, muscle, joint aches, nasty headaches and generally lethargic. Took me back to when I first contracted Vasculitis. Took about 5 weeks before I started to feel really better. Due the second jab in two weeks time. Cannot wait !!😐
Very bad side effects. I had both doses of Pfizer vaccine three weeks and three days apart. The first one gave me horrible headache that lasted two weeks along nasty mouth ulcers, nerve pain all around the ears and eyes, all over body muscle pain. Hot and cold. The second one gave me slightly less horrible but bad headache for a week at least and even now I get odd headaches that I had never experienced before the vaccine. And pain travelled all over my body including lymph nodes for 5 weeks. I have had vasculitis for nearly 20 years with all the ups and downs and this experience is one of the worst I have had. It has been 6 weeks since the second vaccine and I am still not well enough. Completely wiped out by noon then I have to rest. The hospital has taken blood samples three times, one before each vaccine and the last one three weeks after the second vaccine. I haven't heard a thing.
This is more or less the experience I have had. It is now over two months since I had the first jab and I am still not right. Headaches, nerve pain, exhaustion, all over body pain and like you the worst down I have had. At times scary. I am seriously considering not having the second jab.Why was the hospital taking the blood samples? Can you chase them up? In so far as they know, you have a right to know what is going on in your own body.
Thanks for your reply. So I'm not the only it seems. I have read many similar to mine in Lupus site (also on this forum) but not on Vasculitis site. Most vasculitis mates don't seem to have reacted as you and I have. I have agreed to be in the hospital's antibody study (for the auto immune) so they need to know how much antibody volume we all make after each it seems. I do hope records of them via Patients Know Best but I don't really have the medical knowledge to understand. Only doctors really do and I haven't heard anything and I have tried to chase and chase the dept. but not a peep.
Nothing more than sore arm and general muzzy feeling for a couple of days. Having high dose prednisolone infusions was far worse. There are few drugs without any side effects so really do not see what the point of this question is. It is what it is.
First dose of AZ, for about 24 hours, raised temperature (37.7) flu like symptoms (aching muscles and joints mostly).
No side effects from AZ first dose. Still awaiting 2nd. However, since having it had a bit of a 'flare' of sinus symptoms with a couple of nose bleeds. Don't know if it's coincidence or as a consequence of the vaccine. Plus my blood glucose levels seem to have risen quite substantially. Not sure if that too is a coincidence or consequence.
Started feeling pretty rough 12 hours after AZ jab. Remained unwell for 4-5 days including headache and feverishness
Mild flu symptoms for around 24 hours.
A sour arm for 2 days and feeling of cold, deep in my bones for 2 days after the first dose on AZ. No side effects after the second dose.
After first AZ jab, I had a tender patch at the injection site for a few days. Eight weeks later, the second AZ jab made me feel fluey for 36 hours, or so. I feel pretty rotten every day to start with!
Only minor side effects - tired and went very cold
Oh and I developed the coronavirus itchy rash a week after my jab
No side effects (apart from a bruised feeling upper arm) from 1 dose of Astra Zeneca. A pity it doesn't afford protection against the South African variant.
Update (info above approx 8/4/2021) today: 13/4/2021:
Though I do normally suffer from fatigue despite 50mcg T3 and 100mcg T4 daily. Fatigue improved taking CellFood 5 drops 3 x a day. However, I have noticed in the last 4 days that fatigue has increased as I fall asleep approx 3 hours after getting up, for at least 8 hours.
I'm alarmed by the article below, dated 07/04/2021, stating that people who suffered clots after Astra Zeneca administered (approx within 2 weeks) had accompanying low blood platelets , and wonder if I'm experiencing low blood platelets leading to the extensive fatigue?
'AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine: EMA finds possible link to very rare cases of unusual blood clots with low blood platelets '
Side effects from dose 1 of AZ were very mild - slight muzzie head, difficultly sleeping for a few nights, anxiousness.
I was extremely ill with the first AZ dose after about 6 hours, the feeling ill lasted about 3-4 days. I started off with extremely cold feet and cold nose both times, first time I then had headache, started to feel sick and extremely thirsty, as well as fever like. I was so thirsty that I gulped water down and from then on started a cycle of thirsty, violently sick, then thirsty and even the smallest sip would make me sick. Second AZ jab, feeling of a thick head as if hung over, since I only had this Monday, I am still feeling like that, but now I also seem to be getting a nauseous feeling again, and a general feeling of tiredness and being unwell, though this time it has taken longer to manifest.
Felt generally rough for a couple of days, very sore arm with restricted movement
AZ - 1 dose. Chills and temperature the next day followed by a terrible headache. Then dizziness that gradually improved within a week.
My side effects started 10 hours later, pain in vaccinated arm, shivers, severe headache, full body aches and fever for 2 days. However, weakness, tiredness and breathing issues lasted around 11 days.
I had my second AZ jab over a week ago and no side effects other than sore shoulder for a couple of days.
Checking in again after I had AZ vaccine 2 yesterday. I’ve had side effects again, but less severe than after vaccine 1 which was very tough for me. This time I’ve fever, chills, aching, weak and wobbly, and not feeling like eating for much of the time. Also extremely red, hot, itchy and swollen injection site. But 36 hours on I’m feeling much more comfortable than last time, even if my temperature is still all over. Currently sitting wrapped up in a fluffy throw on the sofa. Popping paracetamol a lot, but down to 1 at a time. So yup, flu like symptoms again, but easier overall than last time.
I was in the clinically extremely vulnerable group not due to my vasculitis though!
