New here allergy to rocuronium

Hi there I am new to the community and my situation is in April I went into anaphylactic shock when I went for a routine laparoscopy.I suffered acute Bronchospasm and cardiovascular collapse. My surgery did not go ahead and I have been for general allergy testing and specific drug testing since. The anaesthetist suspected that Rocuronium was the culprit - a muscle relaxant. After the drug test he confirmed that the rocuronium did cause a reaction. I am due to see my surgeon again. I am a little bit concerned and worried about going for the laparoscopy. Wondering if anyone has been through anything similar?

Kerry I have not had anaphylaxis from the Rocuronium but i have heard from others that it is one of the highly anaphylactic drugs. I would talk with your allergist and surgeon and anesthesiologist before the next surgical procedure about this muscle relaxant and your reaction Best of Luck to you.

There are other medications they can use and i am sure they will now be alerted to your reaction.

Let us know how it goes

Thank you I will

I was due to have my surgery next week. It now may not happen. The skin prick test I had were positive for allergy to rocuronium however the blood tests for all anaesthetic drugs were negative including rocuronium. This is delaying things further although I do think it's better to be 100% sure it just means another month of pain and waiting.
