Hello everyone. I am 43 years old and i ve been diagnosed back in 2004 with urticaria pigmentosa. i had skin lesions and itching after shower . Very often i have Rinitis, and with some foods i exprerience headache etc. Since then i ve done many tests but my clinical condition stayed the same, and doctors did nt give me any medicine.
My question is if i can have a tatoo, or it can trigger urticaria again. I ve had one in the past, but unfortunately i can t remember the exact year, so maybe it could be related with the onset of the disease.

Hi Morfoula. I would expect having a tattoo could trigger your urticaria. Everyone is different though and if concerned you could speak to your healthcare professional beforehand.
I have known people to get tattoos with cutaneous (skin) mastocytosis as you have. Some have been ok and others have had itching. If your skin is quite reactive I can imagine that a tattoo could irritate it. You didn’t ask for this additional input but I personally find the evidence of ink accumulating in lymph nodes as slightly worrisome.
I've not been officially diagnosed with mastocytosis or MCAS, but I suspect I have one of the two.
I've had tattoos since I first developed symptoms. I genuinely didn't think I'd be able to tolerate having one, but to my surprise, I had absolutely no reaction whatsoever. Of course, this doesn't mean that this'll be the case for you should you get one.
