Hello! My father is a CKD patient and unfortunately just had Herpes(eyelid & scalp). Acyclovir was prescribed. Is it safe for him?

The dermatologist prescribed the meds and asked to further check with the Nephrologist. However, if my dad only uses the cream, would it work?

Check with your dads nephrologist. I have had a kidney transplant and was prescribed it for shingles. Everything was ok.

It is standard to take Ayclovir after transplant. I took it for 6 months. Nephrologist said it was to prevent the CMV virus, especially during the first year. He should be fine to take it orally, just check with the doctor. Good Luck
