I was called for a possible transplant. I did have a low grade fever but no runny nose or itchy eyes. I was prepped and taking to surgery and was told at that time that the surgery will not be going forward due to me having too high of antibodies. What are these antibodies and what can I do to reduce these levels?

An antibody is a protein produced by the body's immune system when it detects harmful substances, called antigens. If too high a level, then it will affect your transplant. I know I had mine monitored closely before my transplant 2 years ago, as I had had a blood transfusion about 20 years ago which would have introduced them. Trying to remember if they gave me anything to reduce the level or not. Sorry, my memory is not as good as it was...
I think reduction involves a long and convoluted process. I'm in the process of finding out about it. You can speak to your consultant who will give you more information.
