I read an article online a while ago about possibility of Tourretters becoming tolerant to SSRIs so care should be taken with prescribing them. Does anyone know whether this is true? I`m on high dose of Citalopram now and still getting bouts of anxiety/depression and sleep disturbance.

Hi Tania, How long have you been on Citalopram?
I don't think its particular to people with TS that they may become tolerant, I think it can happen to anyone. You could ask your GP to put you on another SSRI if this one isn't helping. Sometimes you need to try a few until you get the right one for you. Everyone is different so can react differently to medications.
My son has TS, OCD and Asperger's and he was prescribed an SSRI (sertraline) for the anxiety side of it. His mood has definitely changed and he is less anxious. He's only been on it for 3 weeks so its early days. His sleep has always been a problem and it hasn't helped with that, sleep problems can be a side effect of the medication. But overall I would say that it has definitely improved things.
I've also taken citalopram but after a while it stopped working, I'm now on Venlafaxine which is a SNRI which I take for depression. So far OK.
