How to access HRT (Habit Reversal Therapy)?

How do we access Habit Reversal Therapy – my daughter has painful, damaging tics that are getting much worse – or any other therapies that may help. My GP has not heard of anything in our area.

( a question from Tourettes Action's Research Conference 'Understanding TS' 30 Nov 2010 - 3)

The speaker's panel answered:

''This is a difficult question to answer unless more information is known about where exactly you live etc. Unfortunately access to psychological services and HRT is very poor in the UK, but the therapist working book for HRT, can be purchased at Amazon (amazon.co.uk/Managing-Toure.... Not just clinical psychologists can practice HRT – for example nurses and therapists can also be taught to use this technique. However the technique builds upon Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) so if someone already is qualified in that it may help.''

I was refered for HRT by my TS specialist, I know that services are pretty patchy with regards to HRT, I feel the best person to speak to about referal for HRT would be your daughter's TS specialist.
