Whilst do one of my regular scrolls through my Facebook homepage the other day I was met by the news that Dawn Willis, mental health campaigner and activist is sadly leaving Rethink, the mental health charity. Now I don’t usually re-blog other people’s blogs, but I am often inspired by other peoples blogs to blog. (How many times can I get the word blog into a sentence?) So here’s Dawn’s blog on her reasons for leaving Rethink. dawnwillis.wordpress.com/20...
Upon reading Dawn’s blog I realised there are some parallels between Rethink rethink.org/ and Tourettes Action, although a much smaller charity Tourettes Action is growing and gradually the public are becoming more aware of our presence and what we do. We are gaining more clout politically, building relations with MP’s who have lobbied on our behalf and of course the growth of services for us ticcers such as the new network of support groups across the UK and training for Habit Reversal Training practitioners. The main parallel is that within Tourettes Action, we ticcers are involved, from me as voluntary policy officer to my fellow ticcers who are on the board of trustees and a good friend and fellow ticcer TourettesHero who organised a fantastic event for TA’s younger members. youtube.com/user/Touretteshero
I would like to wish Dawn the best of luck for her future plans, and I hope you carry on blogging because I enjoy reading her blog and have found out some very interesting and useful stuff with regards to the world of mental health and politics.
