Hi new to the forum came here in desperation and exasperation. 7 years with tinnitus biggest fear now realised which was it spiking and staying there. Used to get periods where it might go down a little but now it just doesn't. Really struggling into cope when it gets even louder and louder. Really really desperate times sometimes, can take you to a dark place.

Hey there, I'm in my 6th year of this, and in the past two weeks, the ringing in my right ear has become unbearable. But we must persevere. It's true that agitation can make it worse, but what helps me the most is white noise and nature sounds. In moments of intense agitation when you can't push the sound to the background, put on headphones and play white noise or nature sounds, especially crickets.
Try to clear your mind. Speaking from personal experience, I clench my teeth a lot and tend to tense up while lying down. I usually wake up with increased tinnitus. Often, tension or deformation in the neck, jaw, and ear canals can cause tinnitus. Pay attention to your neck and jaw health. If you clench your teeth at night, consider using a mouthguard.
Stay motivated and make sure to see an ENT specialist. Share your entire story with them and try to find the cause of your tinnitus. Never give up searching. I believe that it won't be the medical world but rather someone suffering from tinnitus who will find the cure for this condition. Keep your hopes up
