Buzzing… how do you get used to it? Or rather ignore it!

Hi

I’ve had tinnitus for about 5 years. It started with the hissing sound. After trying sound therapy treatment, I became aware of a tune in one ear. It gradually faded and I was told I had wax in that ear. I think wax helped block my sound as I had it removed and 8 months on it is just starting to fade again. I have had issues with right ear with a slight intermittent buzz sound for a year or so. I blamed it on the quietness of my house. Stress could also make it worse. I have been on pregabalin for about a month but in the week, the slight noise has become a more consistent buzz, and I’m finding this hard to deal with. I’m thinking of reducing pregabalin dose(for anxiety), will speak to dr. Has anyone experienced the medication making tinnitus worse? Im finding I can relief the sound by cupping or covering my ear. This is how I sleep at night. Has anyone similar experiences?

I should add nothing helps the constant hissing and I have got used to this.

I’m trying to think positive thoughts. … A cure or successful treatment is around the corner.

Thanks

Hi TishL I have a constant hissing in my left ear. I have just had to make friends with it rather than see it as the enemy. Stress does heighten the awareness I believe

I don't have experience of pregabalin but I take atenolol to help with anxiety. Not sure if this has cobtributed. But I need to take it and have done for many years.

My first symptoms of tinnitus started back in 2012 after chemotherapy treatment.

I can also hear my heart beat in the ear.

It's difficult to live with but it's there and it's not going away so I have learnt to accept.
