My T started off as a constant high pitch whistle, but not really life changing. It has just gone up a notch and is very intrusive. My fear is how loud or high pitched can these things go. I am not looking to frighten myself with reply’s so is there anything positive I can cling on to? Just joined. Hello all.

High Pitch Whistle
Hello Pipster and welcome.
The thing about tinnitus - or rather, things: it changes. it's not the same for everyone. It may come on stronger. It may disappear.
The trick is to habituate to it: not, as someone put it here recently, to put it on a pedestal where you can 'see' it all the time but to tuck it away in a cupboard. it may peek out occasionally, then you shut the door on it.
Please, if you have not done so already, read the website of Tinnitus UK where you will find hints and tips on how to habituate.
Thank you Rosie. I don’t think tinnitus is given appropriate attention in the UK NHS. My own GP surgery doesn’t appear to have anything supportive that swings into action. Yes you get referred to the NHS website but that is not the same as seeing someone in person who has tinnitus as their reason for being on the payroll.
I agree, from reading posts here, that many doctors do not seem to realise that there are guidelines on the pathways that they should follow when a patient comes to them with tinnitus. The guidance is within NICE (National Institute for Clinical Evidence) website which you can look up - put “tinnitus into their search box top of page.
