Hi FriSoph,

I have had T for more than 20 years. Mine is predominantly in my left ear (where I have a hearing aid/masker), but it can be both, right, and/or centre, varying from hiss to ringing and everything in between. It can be horribly loud, soft and even now it can vanish for hours. I think that these combinations/variations are quite common (I may have a few more than most these days), and I don't think that there is much to be done about them other than to recognise that they are common and try not to think of them as meaning that there is anything particularly wrong with you beyond the fact that you have T itself.

Hi there Frisoph. Yes. My T moves about. Sometimes centre, sometimes left, sometimes right, or if I'm on a peak all three!! Quite often 2 sounds in the one ear. High frequency and low frequency, which makes sound therapy choice very difficult. My audiologist, who has tinnitus himself, says its not massively common, but a lot of people have it this way. It has taken me longer to habituate because of this, about a year now, but a combination of sound therapy, cbt videos, sleepband and making sure my day is as packed as possible, I now find I'm not constantly monitoring the sound. There are times it peaks but I don't panic about it anymore. Yours WILL settle down so hang in there friend.
