I've posted before and explained that my tinnitus has got progressively worse since it started about 4 years ago. I specifically want to ask about my giddiness symptoms related to it. Often, if I bend over when working in the garden, I feel very light headed and unbalanced. Recently, when going to bed, I put my head on the pillow and it feels like the room is going round and round (similar to being drunk). Does anybody else have similar symptoms and, if so, what can I do about them?

Giddiness

I have some giddiness too , not all the time. I just wait for it to pass, sometimes when I’ve been outside I feel unstable , I try not to take too much notice , I’ve learnt to ignore my head fullness and any tinnitus has got slightly better for me as I am learning to habituate. I agree it’s not nice at all, there are medicines available for vertigo , I used to take stemetil and there was another one beginning with a P but I prefer to manage without drugs. I hope that you find it passes , anxiety and stress makes tinnitus and giddiness worse. Keep calm if possible, Good luck to you .

Some people's tinnitus is a symptom of a vestibular disorder, so feeling off balance or unsteady would not be unusual. This can be investigated by an audio-vestibular specialist if it persists - baap.org.uk/ has a list of doctors in the UK who specialize in these issues.
I feel for you! My giddiness has been diagnosed as BPPV (look it up for details) which you might have. I’m suffering at the moment as it’s been set off again by sitting in the dentist’s chair and being sent from upright to prone and back.
Most people get a cure from doing specific exercises - see “Brain & Spine Foundation” and search for vestibular rehabilitation. Also I’m prescribed prochlorperazine which takes away some of the nausea.
But I know mine is nothing to do with the tinnitus. I really don’t know how doctors differentiate between BPPV and labyrinthitis when they initially assess their patients.
What I find really annoying is that I wake up in the morning as if I’ve a bad hangover and NO ALCOHOL has passed my lips!
I used to get the same thing when lying in bed, if I looked to the right the room would start spinning around. I went to the Dr about it and he said stop looking to the right! He reckoned it was benign positional vertigo, there are exercises you can do that will help, I think it’s crystals in the inner ear that move. I used to get the odd dizzy spell in the garden too, sometimes when standing up from crouching down. That’s all cleared up now, you should find in time it will go away.
