I’ve had this since 1974 and dealt with it ok but over the lasts couple of months this year 2013 it’s getting to a stage that I’m now struggling with the whistling as it’s there 24/7

Have you had your vitamin levels checked lately? Especially iron, vit d and b12?

You can always pay and do them online if you can't get any joy from your Drs

Hello Whistler, I've just read on another thread about how ear wax compaction can affect T. Maybe this could be a consideration?

Hi Whistler- How about a hearing test? Tinnitus often gets louder if hearing drops - even slightly. That's what happened to me.

I just had my hearing checked last week and it was quite down .( strange I never noticed it) Especially the tinnitus ear So I'm going for hearing aids privately. Still haven't had the first NHS hearing department consultation , waiting over a month now.

once I get round to getting a test I’ll probably know a little better just so busy with work as I work for myself thanks

This happened to me Kelly. I didn't realise how much hearing I 'd lost until I had a hearing test. Especially in my T ear - like you. I waited for ever for HAs . It's a real hassle on the NHS. All the best.

did the hearing aids help ?

Yes. They were a great help with hearing loss and T but I haven't been able to wear them long term. Problems with chaffing in my ear canals.

Thank you . I was hoping they would at help a bit . Even 10% would be good , just to get the very high noise less noticeable

You'll really feel the benefits 🙂

Specsavers have some for behind the ear . Would they be better for you ?

Thank you. Audiology gave me BTE. Very comfortable for a week or so but then they start to chaff. Not a lot they can do sadly.

I really hope so . I just feel so depressed especially when I wake up . I still keep hoping the noise will be quieter or by some miracle its gone back to when I didnt notice it..

I understand. That's how I felt a couple of years ago. Like you my T got louder after a number of quiet years. It does get better in the sense that you'll gradually notice it less - even it doesn't actually get quieter . And we can always hope for a miracle ..
