Hi Parrcj

It's the first time that you've posted in a few months - sorry to read that tinnitus is causing you difficulty.

Some people who experience hyperacusis report painful ears - soreness seems more related to things like ear infections or wax blockages. Are those things that you experience at all?

Appreciate your reply Pat. I am still struggling with T and often read comments on here to reassure me hopefully one day this will not be such an ordeal. The mornings are very stressful as as soon as I wake T is screeching. The only solution is to put on ear pods and listen to music if its really early (5am) and hope to get back to sleep. If 7am i just get up and start my day. I do have hyperacusis in certain situations.

This morning ears are painful. I guess because my T is there it could be the the cause ? Afraid to take painkillers in case this makes the T worse.

Nights and mornings are the worst in the daytime I can forget if i am busy, although it is there .

I try not to think of having this for the rest of my life.

I am trying hearing aids to see if this helps , fingers crossed.

Unless you are in this sitation no one will everstand how this affects your life. To often if i mention it to anyone (which is very rare) the reply is yes i have that...... slighy ringing in my ears !!!

Soul destroying !! So keep it to myself .

Hi....I have pain and soreness with tinnitus. Mine is due to ear eczema which causes my ear wax to block up every 3-4 months. So I have microsuction 3-4 times a year. It might be worth asking your GP to take a look in your ears to check what is going on for you. I'm a bit fed up some days with it all but you just have to carry on with your life and try not to worry too much as worrying makes the tinnitus worse. I will be glad when the weather gets better so I can get out in my garden more. I love my garden its a big garden so always plenty to do. It keeps me busy and takes my mind off all the weird symptoms that crop up with tinnitus. It's very therapeutic and I like walking my dog that gets me out in all weather's but I have to wear a hat to protect my ears if it's very cold. You do habituate and change your habits over time to protect yourself but it can be frustrating. I'm finding the bad days are less often as time goes on. So keep yourself busy good luck with your hearing aids. I'm still waiting for ENT appointment to be assessed for my hearing but I know I have some hearing loss as I can't hear the TV very well just lately! Oh well onwards and upwards I'm off out to walk my dog. Take care.

Thank you beagleears for your relpy . I have taken to wearing a hat when playing golf, it took a while to realise cold effects my T . As you have mentioned you to wear a hat when walking your dog in cold weather .

Little bits of information like this are so important to other T suffers.

Hearing aids are helping in the evening watching tv , I now struggle to hear what is being said.

I am so many good days now, feeling positive .

Thank you

Hi there. I get sore ears if I wear HAs. I've tried twice now - in 2021 and 2022. If I don't wear them my ears are fine. Anything I put in my ears has the same effect. You mention HAs and ear pods. Could either one be the culprit?

It maybe the problem, i will try and monitor when wearing HA or ear pods if i suffer the next day ...thank you.
