I have read a couple of articles (in USA) linking tinnitus with taking the drug Diltiazem. It’s used to keep blood pressure down. my cardiologist, while not seeing anything concerning this, okayed to stop for awhile to see if it works.
Anyone familiar with this? Wondering how long it would take not taking the drug before it would effect my Tinnitus?

Any medication can cause tinnitus and it can vary from person to person. My tinnitus was triggered when I started amlodipine for blood pressure. It got worst when I had mild covid. I'm now on candesartan, which seems fine, but I can't take certain brands of it. I had a heart attack in Nov 2021 and started on statins but that made tinnitus worth for me, so had to stop. It's a nightmare every time someone prescribes any new medication. I take it with trepidation.
I did try stopping my Statin which is Atorvastatin for a few months and did ask my GP first but it didn’t make any difference so back on it again but they have messed the dose up so booked yet another appointment to try to get it sorted ,this has put me off trying some of my other meds and Amlodipine is one of them but I haven’t noticed it got worse after taking it. When I had COVID it was actually slightly improved for a while but I am convinced the covid vaccine has made it worse especially the boosters of Moderna and Phizer. Mine has gotten worse over the years and especially in the last two buts it’s very difficult to tie it down to the taking of any particular drug but certainly the effect appears to be delayed by at least a few weeks.
