I would avoid using these when u have tinnitus - just listen to sound therapy from yr mobile ( without ear piece) or from a sound oasis sound therapy box

Tinnitus therapy sounds are probably best used in the way that Suz describes. Wearing headphones or earbuds may make the most sense to us as a way to listen to a relaxing soundscape or music which we find relaxing, but they can end up creating more opportunity for us to focus on tinnitus.

If you have a tinnitus sound generator like the products from Sound Oasis, that's one way to have background sound in your bedroom at night. Another possibility might be to buy a pillow with a speaker built in, like the Sound Asleep -sleepypeople.com/soundasleep/ - which can connect to a smartphone via an auxiliary lead.

I would hope that you would be less likely to notice the sound you describe after using headphones by using one of these methods instead.

its the same advice for night - dont use headset or earphones

Beltone Tinnitus Calmer is a good free mobile app for sound therapy. Try a few sounds on this to see which ones are comfortable for you . Good sounds to select are natural water sounds like ocean, waves, rain , stream etc or pink noise is a good one . I avoid music for sound therapy as it doesn't help me. Only use one or two sounds at a time

***its important that the volume of the sounds should be BELOW your tinnitus volume and not louder than yr T

u can use sound therapy on low volume ( below the volume of yr tinnitus) and it probably wouldnt bother yr wife. I would not play music - better to select a natural sound like ocean, waves , stream or pink noise is good as well.
