My tinnitus has got progressively worse over the last two months. It gives me mood swings and occasionally I lose my temper with myself.

I am worried about what tinnitus might do to.mr going forward.

Hi Ridge

Yes it's awful I think we are both in the same melting pot it can make you feel this way it's more common than you think Tinnitus has always been the Bear on our backs you either give into to it live with or take it on and don't let it control you over the years of difference form's of stress I've learned to first live with and and take it on

During the day I have the Radio on so my very small brain is concentrating on the Radio not the Tinnitus at night I use a app which at the moment is white noise remember a quite room is bad for Tinnitus as for further down the road how our Tinnitus will react who knows but I suggest take it on beat it remember Tinnitus feeds on your fears don't let.

Best wishes Marcus

hi ridge55

I have been feeling this way recently as well. But if I look back at messages I’ve sent to friends in the middle of last year and remember how I felt toward the end of last year when I had my first really potent spike, what I realise is I probably haven’t gotten worse. I’m just going through a phase where for whatever reason I find it more bothersome and therefore I listen out for it all the time. It’s so easy to say “don’t pay it attention” but much harder to actually do. Like romford5 says, try masking it with radio and keeping busy. If I can’t get to sleep while listening to the TV then I play the sound of crickets which really works for my T. I partly think it’s the winter that has made me feel worse due to the dark nights makes it not as easy to distract yourself. Maybe this is a factor for you as well.

Keep positive. Again easy to say but hard to do. But the more positive you feel also in my experience really reduces how bothersome or “loud” my T seems.

Take care, Adam

look at it another way, ridge. Not what tinnitus is going to do to you, but what you are going to do to it.

The aim eventually - and it takes time - is to get acceptance and then it could well fade away.

Let me give you an analogy. If you work in a big city, the rush hour is horrendous- all these nasty people getting in your way. But after a couple of weeks you just accept that it’s part of your day. You don’t notice them … much!

Have a look at the forum and see what other people have done.

That happened for me first time Rosie .It took about 2 years but I learnt to live with it and barely noticed as , over the years, it faded away . When it came back worse than ever about a, month ago you can imagine how I felt ( and go on feeling )... obviously you get very low .

I still remember things people said top me at the Tinnitus conference I went to that help

" Eventually you can sort of park it "

" One thing you can be sure of is that with the right attitude a year from now it will be bothering you a lot less " These thoughts are rocks I cling to in this very difficult phase but I am sure they are true and I intend to work towards a better place .

That said , some days are very very hard
