Has anyone suffering from Hyperacusis/Tinnitus also experienced Tonic Tensor Tympani Syndrome (TTTS) and if so , advise on any related therapy? Apparently any disfunction of this middle ear tensor tympani muscle can also lead to symptoms of ear pain and fullness/blockage sensations for some Hyperacusis sufferers.
Thank you in advance for any related input you may be able to provide.

Hi John sorry to hear your having pain with your hyperacusis I have to deal with it too occasionally. I usually just ride it out with paracetamol and hot showers allowing the steam to build up in our tiny bathroom. Assuming a lot of pain is based on inflammation then a colder environment or a cold compress over the ear may help but I must stress I have not tried that - I prefer the heat. You could look for proper advice from online documents or a consultation with Miriam Westcott. She is a very well respected audiologist who knows a lot about TTTS.
Thankyou for your reply. There is indeed interesting analysis information in her related online documentation. I intend to mail her to see if any therapy is also known, assuming TTTS maybe applicable and can be diagnosed. It is anyway a potential to also discuss with our next appointment with an ENT specialist. Once again, thank you for your very useful feedback. Regards, John
Hi, I do have the feeling of fullness and from time to time get earache as well. But ENT just said it’s Hyperacusis. When the sound sensitivity gets very bad it makes me feel dizzy. Do you experience that? I am still trying to find a solution.
