Neuromod Lenire

Hi all, I often watch Ben Thompson’s videos on YouTube (introduced by Julian Cowan Hill in another video). Ben is an American audiologist and I recently saw him interviewing his German equivalent (Max Bauer) re the effectiveness of Neuromod Lenire. I have also read an article on the tinnitus.org website which looked promising. I have had not too loud tinnitus for 8 months now (left ear - high pitched sound) and it got better with meditation and good diet / little alcohol / sugar / salt / caffeine but could do with further improvements but the cost of Lenire seems excessive. Wonder if prices will drop eventually … can anyone share positive feedback? Prices also seem different between EU and UK? Thank you.

Hi Billo. The problem with treatments is that they work for some people but not for others. In the case of Lenire I believe 66.5% of people benefit long term. So without a trial run or a money back guarantee it's a gamble. If your T isn't too loud it's probably not worth the risk. Given that 16% of people report that it makes their T worse.

Hi totally agree with dog lovers comments.I know 8 months with tinnitus feels like an eternity but your brain will habituate to it given time & it’s a bit early for that to have naturally happened yet.

Have you been seen by an audiologist or ENT and given help and advice?

Hi bourneville, yes seen ENT and hearing normal + no pressure in inner ear etc so everything normal. Referred for CBT specific for tinnitus which I hope will also help - currently on waiting list. I find meditations very helpful to keep calm and relaxed and diet /regular exercise also helpful. Yet to try fasting and acupuncture but not a priority. It helps me to think I still have a few arrows yet to strike …

Hi,

I am in Ireland where Neuromod are based.

The tinnitus that I experience is as a result of brain surgery in 2009 which left me with atxia. Constant ringing, multiple pitches.

I rang my ent consultant a few weeks ago to tell him I was considering Lenire. He said that Leneir "would be good for" me. I expressed my concern as to the cost, the uncertainty of success and having not tried hearing aids first. He is arranging the fitting of hearing aids. They are the medical card ones so I'm not too confident about their success. Technically I am within acceptable hearing levels not to require hearing aids but the tinnitus just worsens my hearing.

I have been in touch with Neuromod over the past three weeks. I sent my most recent audiology report to Neuromod early today and they came back to say that the results were within range. Next step will be a consultation. I know that will suggest CBT first but in my case it's likely to be ineffective.
