Vibration sounds in ears

Hi I’m fairly new at this. 3 weeks ago I started with a ear infection which caused my ear to get plugged and Amit of tenderness on my head and neck area. After the 3rd day I was able to unplug my ear but ever since then I hear kind of a vibration sound, though I don’t feel it. Sometimes it sound a like if wind inside the ear. I haven’t had luck getting in to see an ENT yet but wanted to know if anyone here has experience this and if there’s any remedies that have helped get rid of this noise. I’m so desperate. Scared and anxious!!

Hi Lalaworld,

Yes I have had a similar experience. It may be a result of Eustachian tube dysfunction. I found using an otovent ballon and a eustachi eustachian tube exercise device helped reduce it over time. Best to check with your GP first however.

In the meantime Lalaworld try to relax - easy for me to say I know- and do things you enjoy that will distract your brain from concentrating on your ear symptoms

Hi, I do hope that you get the appropriate medical advice soon. My tinnitus is fairly recent, & I too was anxious & stressed - it affected my sleep too.I’m ‘sort of’ coming to terms with it more now gradually, & sleep is improving.

Very best wishes to you

Thank you .. I know the hardest part is accepting and getting used to it. But hoping I get the medical attention soon. I’ll keep you guys updated.

Let's hope your infection will take a bit longer than 3 weeks to clear up Lalaworld, and with time will clear up completely.

Take Care

Mike

Hi Lala. It's very normal to feel upset, afraid & anxious when tinnitus first starts. The best thing - if you haven't done so - is to ask your GP for a referral to ENT. There's a very long wait of course. Next contact the BTA for info & reassurance. Then it's time to think about coping strategies. Things like sound / relaxation therapy are very useful in the early days. If you need more help you might consider CBT (with a counsellor who knows about T) . All the best.

I've been waiting over a year to see an ENT at the hospital. I have similar problems for a year now and really fed up .

It is awful. I've been getting this regularly - inner ear pressure build up/tinnitus getting louder then I have to lie down til it passes. Sometimes lying down for hours.

It is frightening and I must admit it gets me down too. My mood seems to go up and down with inner ear pressure like a barometer. At first I wondered if I had a mood disorder but I'm pretty sure it is all to do with my inner ear ( I have sensorineural hearing loss) Been told it is either menieres or vestibular migraine. I've seen ENT but no further forward. They gave me betahistine which, sadly, made me feel really ill. Then they referred me to neurology. They suggested betablockers but I didn't want them so he then suggested B2 (Riboflavin) which I bought. Not really any further forward tbh. Family history of hearing probs/ear probs and I get a lot of ear infections.

Advice? Push for antibiotics quickly if you get further ear infections...a lingering ear infection is awful...as others say avoid stress as much as you can...try not to lose sleep if possible...

...

I always wear a hat when weather turns cold so in Scotland that is Nov to April! I always have my hat handy as ears are sore in the cold weather!

Oh and tell people around you if it is coming on...I was pretending everything was fine but struggling internally.

Take care and push for help from your doctor. And, as doglover says, ask for an Ear, Nose and Throat referral.
