Sarah, lovely to hear from you. I was thinking of you today. Sorry you are feeling so sick and sorry you don't have a good GP. Could it be that you have a bout of vertigo/meniers? I do pray you find a good doctor to help you. Like someone said, please get in touch with BTA. They are best placed to support you directly. Sending you lots of love. P.s. My daughter is called Sarah Heloise, very similar to yours. 😍

Sarah, so sorry to hear this, I am also going through hell at the moment, my new hearing aids are a help.

At the moment I am taking it one day at a time, I try to visit town on the bus every morning, that gets me to lunch time, then after dinner sit in the sun lounger in the garden or if it is raining under the covered patio with the radio on for a couple of hours. I must admit I am dreading winter.

I find waking up at 4am and lying in bed until time to get up, usually 7am is the worst time.

I live alone and have no one to discuss my problems with, I will not take any kind of anti depressants or sleeping pills.

But I do believe the human body is a wonderful thing and with my help will get me through this horrible Tinnitus.

Take care Sarah we are all with you, and you can beat this.

Mike

Hi Sarah

I wouldn't say you were being negative - it does seem like you are overwhelmed at the moment.

You can call us, of course - and we can support you with tinnitus. Nausea is a little outside our normal remit of advice, as it can be a sign of multiple conditions.

I don't know that we would connect nausea with tinnitus itself - it tends to be seen as either a secondary indicator of inner-ear and balance disorders or as a sign of heightened anxiety and panic disorders. A local IAPT service can support you with the latter problems: nhs.uk/service-search/find-...

Looking back through your posts, this current situation has been going on for just over two weeks - you first posted 18 days ago. You've talked about a lot of emotional stress and difficulty with your tinnitus - I do feel as though focusing on why tinnitus is causing you these problems and what it is about it which is such a source of distress for you will help you to get back in control of it.

A lot of what you've discussed is an anxious reaction to your tinnitus - 'what does this mean - could it be something serious?' and those ideas can escalate in our minds, as we don't have ready answers for them. I would say that 99% of the time, tinnitus isn't a life threatening condition, but it can feel very much like a life-changing one.

Often, when we're anxious or depressed, the idea of change is the thing which causes us problems - more so than any health condition or symptom does. Try to think of tinnitus as one symptom which is causing you problems right now, but as something which will improve when you tackle one of the other issues you're dealing with.

Visualize putting it on a shelf for now - acknowledge that it is causing you worries and concerns, but try to consider that the way you are thinking about tinnitus is perhaps causing it to spike and to be more of a problem for you than it needs to be. You can be control in how you feel about tinnitus and the stress which it causes. That's entirely about your thoughts and beliefs.

If you view T as something which you're suffering from, you will feel low, anxious or upset about it. You're telling your mind and body that it is something to be afraid of and your system will respond in kind to that instruction.

If you change that reaction to release the pressure valve a bit, if you view it just as a sound - nothing more, nothing less - you won't take the tinnitus away, but you should find that the impact which it has on you is much less. That's a goal that you can get to - to take the pressure on yourself down just a few notches, by shifting the thoughts you have about it.

Best wishes

Pat
