My New Hearing Aids

Well I have had them for 2 weeks, they are not a cure but they are a great help, When I am out and about surrounded by ambient sounds I do not notice my tinnitus, I can now sit in the garden with the radio on and enjoy the day. I have had a white noise added but had no need to use it yet, they are very comfortable to wear.

When I remove them on an evening the screaming in my ears is once again obvious, and sleep is almost impossible, I have been told not to wear them in bed.

A tip, Bearing in mind they are worth about £1.000 a pair and I had them less than a week, I went to town shopping when I got off the bus and went to cross the road, to my horror they had disappeared, "It was a terrible feeling" what do I say to ENT?.

I went back to the bus stop and found one, the other one was 15 feet away, when I took off my mask it had catapulted them off. All's well that ends well.

I would recommend that if you are not sure, give them a try and as my Audiologist advised, the latest basic ones are just a good as the expensive ones.

I’m completely with you on this, pure nostalgia.

One thing though - I got mine before masks were common. When I need new tubes and batteries I have to phone and leave a voicemail.. When the supplies arrive they are accompanied by a full page explanation of how to remove a mask safely - I had no idea it was so difficult. Basically, stand still and take the mask off from the top of your ear not the bottom. I too had an aid ping out of my ear onto the street!

Nice work Mike. Glad you got them back. That would've been awkward! Good to hear you're getting on so well with them during the day too. You can always use a sound box at night.

Masks are a hazard with the hearing aids. Made worse with glasses - they tangle up and the aids go flying off.

I now use a bandana style mask worn around the neck and pulled up when needed.

Don't think they are as effective as a proper mask but they meet the legal requirement we had.
