I have had tinnitus for over 30 years and have struggled for a long time with it and for the most part have coped with it. However at the beginning of December 2020 I picked up a virus and my tinnitus became rampant far louder than I have ever had. Add that to frequent giddiness and pounding headaches I am struggling. My doctor has been of little help as yet.
Any ideas please??

Hello Pamfaye. I’m sorry you’re struggling with the T. If you haven’t already, I’d urge you to read the website of the British tinnitus Association which has got lots of helpful information. The trouble with Doctors is they are aware there’s no actual ‘cure’ as such, and if they have never experienced it they don’t quite know how to cope with you. My doc is the same.
However, as far as the giddiness goes, if it’s affecting your life then (if your doc won’t help) ask your pharmacist for advice on what to take.
It's not unusual for illness to make our tinnitus louder for a time - but the feeling of giddiness makes me wonder if it would be time to ask your doctor to refer you to hospital for a more specialized check. Is the dizziness frequent or not a regular problem?
