Hello...

Hi all. I have tinnitus, vertigo and have recently been told by a consultant it is 'likely' that I have menieres.

On a good day I just get on with it and am generally positive. During a bad spell I feel as though I'm stuck on a precipice and going slightly mad. Like the Scottish weather, it's unpredictable.

Hoping to help on here, and get some more understanding of what's going on. xx

Hello Fuzzy I had an ENT appointment yesterday and now they have booked me an MRI scan and additional hearing tests. All this has came over a 12 week spell and off course I am confused bad anxiety .

Came about seemingly bacteria or infection from a swim

Certainly opened a weakness in me very hard to get it all together

I still wake at silly hours and not able to get back to sleep

I have avoided the drugs offered to ease the anxiety because I believe they would make me worse

At present breathing is my only tool to fight the demons

Please tell me more of your day to day struggles the more you talk the better

Regards

Andrew

Hope you get some help. I have good periods then periods of dizziness, thoughts churning, head spinning, exhaustion. I've found small dose of diazepam, used sparingly, helps with the tinnitus and getting a sleep. Had an MRI. Got a hearing aid. Hope you get on ok. That is good you are getting an MRI. If you are claustrophobic I would advise you tell them and ask them to talk to you...I don't do well in closed spaces but they kept saying 'now this will happen you'll hear a loud noise etc and that really helped. 👍 xx

When l first got chronic T, l was driven to thoughts of ending my life. But never, ever, would l be so harsh as to compare it to British (especially Scottish) weather! That's a bit mean to T. Seriously though, please try curling up in bed with a movie on a streaming service watched on your laptop / tablet PC (a 2-in-1 laptop/tablet PC is great for this). Be careful not to watch the movie lying on your back as there's a tendency to become very drowsy when watching a good film in the evening, and you definitely don't want a 1.5kg laptop swinging down toward your forehead if you nod off to sleep and loosen your hold on the laptop.

You could also try to engage in something which challenges the core of your being, the meaning of your life. You'll usually forget T exists, and in the end, question if it really is real? Well, they say it's not real. I'm now inclined to agree.

Thanks for that...Good idea. Ha ha about the weather. It is sunny today as well! Yes I've found I prop myself up when having an attack/episode...no idea what to call it... Still like to think my default is 'feeling well' and that helps me push through.

Thanks xx

Films and books definitely a godsend. Thanks for that xx

Hi,I have meniers and there’s no denying the uncertainty is the scary part.

I try to do the right things, low salt, caffeine and alcohol. I don’t abstain just try to eat healthy like we’re all supposed to.

While some have an awful awful time with meniers I think most of us cope.

Over the six years that I have had it the attacks have lessened in severity and the times between them increased. I am now over a year since the last.

I take betahistamine, which I am certain works for me (when I stopped I had an attack 6 weeks later after 2 years without).

I get patches of ear pressure, constant T and now very deaf in the affected ear but only unbalanced during an attack. At which times I sit very still and focus on one point like a finger and sometimes it subsides.

I try not to carastrophise, not easy.

Do try and get an appointment with a neurotoligist (the one with a T in the middle, I.e. not a neurologist).

Wishing you the best.

Thanks very much. Excellent advice!
