Reiki for Tinnitus relief anyone tried it

Hello Halen12. I see you’ve been posting recently asking for forumites’ take on various possible therapies, with mixed results.

Here’s what I think.

There’s no cure but lots of snake oil salesmen around. Some things might help individuals and not other individuals. I think the answer for you is “what risk is acceptable to me?” If you pay good money for something and it turns out you are no better off, how are you going to feel? Philosophical? Cross? Desperate? Shrug your shoulders? I’d say, try and think this through. if you think you can take disappointment then why not give it a go? If you are the sort of person to try something and then get anxious and upset if nothing happens then, maybe, it’s not for you.

I too prefer to look at the science and like weigh up the plausibility of treatments. Having said that, there is little doubt that such therapies do offer some benefit for some people. So behind the definition that Reiki "channels energy", with no scientific basis, the process is relaxing and offers relief. But for me, sitting for an hour or two every morning in my favourite armchair reading a good book, has a similar effect. It has nothing to do with a mythical or spiritual interventions, but, for me, it seems to do a good enough job. Furthermore, I have no delusion that it is going to cure my tinnitus. Also it's inexpensive and, most importantly, it's harmless.
