I’m new to this forum. I’ve suffered with low level tinnitus since I was approx 18....I’m now 45. Over the last week or so, I’ve noticed my tinnitus has suddenly got worse. It’s now like a high-pitched electric current type noise in my head (rather than multi-tone when I’m trying to sleep).
I’ve suddenly wondered (as my ear feels a bit muffled) if I have a bit of swelling inside my ear (I’ve had a small sore just inside, which I poke, for a while.) I’ve just been prescribed Otomize by my Dr to see if that’s why my tinnitus has increased. Just read that it can make tinnitus worse....anyone with any knowledge about this please? I have also suffered with a slightly stiff neck due to recent anxiety and wonder if that’s causing my tinnitus to increase. It’s driving me mad at the moment! X
Thanks all,
Julia

I wear a masker from the nhs which I think has helped the most. I still have bad days when I can’t block it out but I try not to get stressed about it as that makes it worse. I also take 10 mg Amytriptolene at night which helps me sleep. You do learn to cope with it, for me it took around two years. I also tried the neuromod device but for me it didn’t work. Hopefully your spike will calm down again and you will be able to get on with your life. Take care
Thank you so much; hopefully a cure will be found one day. I was fine with low level noise, just at night, but the spike is really annoying! Take care X
Same, stiff neck + increased (high frequency) ringing! Why do so many people have a stick neck combined with T these days? If it isn't due to the stress levels caused by this virus situation in the world, I would be feared to argue it's the virus itself that's causing it.
I can only speak for myself but our situations may well be different.
After a host of ear issues, my ENT consultant gave me Otimize to help an infection. However I have a grommet inserted so essentially a perforated eardrum. I went ahead and used it as I was desperate at the time.... I've had tinnitus ever since. Its been 3 months now and and there has only ever been slight improvements but at the moment it is at full level. It should not be used with grommets/perforations so consider that please before using.
