I haven’t posted in a very long time, but after our rescue dog who we have had nearly two years suddenly turned on me, this morning and nearly bit my right ear lobe off, I have been through an emotional roller coaster, after six hours in A and E I have come home, and basically the fate of the dog is in my hands. I am so conflicted about what to do next?

Emotional turmoil
Sounds unpredictable could be bad
I've had dogs with a mix of Doberman or Roti. They had the impulsive attack tendency. I was able to train it out of them but not without incident. One attacked another dog at the park, and eventually attacked our dog walker. The other, a litter mate, became the sweetest dog you could ever meet. Biting is natural for dogs but some are breed to actually attack. Hearding dogs will nip. Hunting dogs will kill.
As dog owners, we must dominate the dog to prevent them from indulging in that impulse. It's for their own good as well as the safety of others. Your instincts will eventually tell you if your dog is trainable. First you need to make sure you've learned all there is to know about "no bite" training. What you learn, could save your dog.
If it has pit bull mix, that's a tough one.
If a dog turns on it’s owner, you have a problem. It’s a tough decision. Can you ever trust the dog again.
