Is there such a thing as ear strain?

So my one sided white noise tinnitus in now 2 sided and my good ear has now become an ear that needs a hearing aid, the right side being so distorted sound wise it's unaidable.

My question is can you get ear strain? I am waiting for a bi-CROS hearing aid - but in the mean time try to do my job as normal - which includes answering the phone ( a lot) and despite talking to my boss about decreasing this nothing has happened. At the end of the day my good ear is just worn out, sore, and as I noticed today slightly swollen ( like your feet would be if you stood all day). I tend to find that I can no longer listen to music on my drive home as it sounds wrong. I am now worried that I am losing what good sound quality I had left in my good ear. I don't know what is causing my deafness/ tinnitus- had quite a few tests done and the usual nasties ruled out - so there is nothing I can do to prevent this worsening. I am only 51 but my hearing is worse than my 78 year old Dad!

The behind ear swelling is just a new thing- doesn't swell up as badly on a non- work day - but feels really bad on a busy work day and by the end of the day I feel like my ear is full of wax when it isn't. Just makes me think of how tired your eyes get with eye strain.

Sorry for the longish post - hope anyone can give me some help!
