I've been having trouble with a ringing in my left ear for a few months. GP confirmed my ear was rather blocked & suggested drops & booking an appt for micro suction. Few weeks down the line and a number of 'suction sessions' later and the audiologist regretfully advises the wax isn't a cause for my tinnitus after all. Not the result i wanted but accept that I will just have to learn to live with it.
Since my appt last week I've now been getting a sensation in my right ear. It's not all the time. Comes and goes (Almost like a switch been turning on then off after about 2 seconds). It's not ringing but like a fluttering sensation with just a bit of pressure (so hard to describe things that go on inside) I guess a bit like when you have water in your ear and waiting for ear to pop & clear. Just wondering if this is another form of tinnitus.

Hi, I have tinnitus over a year now,but it's funny you should write this post, I'm getting this same fluttering sensation in each ear now aswel, only stared yesterday, it's like a muscle twitching or something. It's really annoying.
Michael, certainly is very annoying. I'm kind of getting used to the left ear ringing (If that's ever possible) but this is something different altogether. It's almost like a vibration in my ear. When there's no sound i can't hear it. I was sitting alone with no sound, it's all fine. Husband starts talking and it vibrates in time to him talking. Feels like when you walk out of a really noisy party (just as an example) and your ears are literally buzzing.
Hoping it is a short term thing. With the ringing in one ear & vibrating in the other.....can feel myself slowly losing the plot....☹
Hi Norah, just had look on Dr Google and it seems to be a muscle contracting behind the ear drum and should settle but I just don't know any more.tensor tympani syndrome"
