Call Center Tinnitus

Hello everyone,

I recently moved to a new area and I seeked employment and found a decent temporary assignment- or so I thought. For a few weeks I was doing orders on the computer and seldom did I use the phone, but then one of the supervisors put me in another area. He had me calling people all day- nonstop even not balancing out the workload between others on my team. So I used a headset for a while maybe a month or month and half and then I started using the actual phone for about a week and a half. My ears have been ringing high pitched for about a good two weeks or so and it’s bugging me. Do any of you think it will go away? What does the tinnitus mean in my case? How can I help it heal? How long can it take to heal? It’s pretty high pitched in both ears, and it’s not really getting worse just staying the same...I would say I may have a little bit more fullness at first but that isn’t as bad anymore.

Please help! (:

Hi!

I am quite surprised that you have not had a helpful reply from someone by now. The important thing is not to panic. Stress makes it seem worse. Try to distract your brain from the noise by concentrating on something you enjoy doing. You should meet with your doctor and get an appointment with an Audiologist/ Hearing Therapist etc. if it continues. Check out the BTA website as this has a lot of useful information. It is difficult for anyone to know how long your tinnitus will go on for. Hopefully it will not last much longer.

all the best
