Hi, I have just joined this site and I have had tinnitus for a very long time. I recommend the TA courses and went to six sessions last year. They helped a lot.
I now choose things that suit me and make me happy. I am studying with BSY and enjoying art. I have recently heard of a type of joint meditation using 30 minutes quiet time. The Julian Meeting and want to invite those with tinnitus to try a session.
best wishes

Hi, I also just recently joined but am not familiar with the support side of Tinnitus or any of the courses you mention. It has been several years since I left my own town and don't get about much so attending in person will probably not happen but I am pleased others may benefit. There is a Tinnitus support group in a neighbouring town meets periodically but it is evenings which definitely rules that option out. Not that I actually require support at the present.
You seem very positive and I am glad you are doing things which you like, that is good to read and long may it continue. You also come across as somebody who tries to help others with information. This response is in turn my small way of supporting.
I have tried meditation in various settings; solo, stress management, philosophical, spiritual and religious including with talk throughs (if that is the correct expression) over the years and found it interesting and mostly useful in a calming way although not relating to Tinnitus so that caught my attention. I can be very hyper so things which could get me to stop and focus have been very useful. Thankfully I seem to have slowed down considerably from my late forties.
I have also done a bit of watercolouring in the past in a supported setting (pre Tinnitus) and although I am no artist enjoyed it a lot and intend to pick up my pencils and brushes again some time. I think I will find it more challenging doing a quiet activity now as that is (obviously) when I notice and can get irritated the most by Tinnitus which is otherwise quite well managed.
Hello and welcome to the British Tinnitus Association forum. Do feel free to ask any questions, I hope that you find this a helpful and supportive place to help you manage your tinnitus.
Warmest wishes
