Hi everyone, I am still battling with my new onset tinnitus. During the last few weeks I have felt better since taking fluxotine and I have had odd days when my t is calmer. My hearing therapist agrees I have severe tinnitus due thre number of sounds i have in both ears and head, which Include static , buzzing , alarm and tone .

I have regularly been doing my relaxation exercises and there has been the odd day when my head is much calmer and the sounds change or are lower , which gives me hope.

Having habituated my years ago to my left ear tinnitus I know it’s possible but with so many sounds I fear it won’t happen .

Today I am exhausted following a job interview and my tinnitus is bad .

It would be good to hear from other members who has multiple tones that have habituated.

I will be purchasing my new combination aids from the private tinnitus clinic as unlike my nhs aids they can be programmed with up to 21 frequencies. I have been advised there is 60 to 70 % rate. Unfortunately my brain now also plays me the sound of the wave that was played by the nhs pink genrerators.

I’m trying to remain calm but finding life very hard at the moment. My hypnotherapy has helped to a point with relaxation and stress.

At this time I am finding it extremely hard to find any enjoyment is life and trying to be a attentive father and husband is proving very hard .

Sorry for the long text .

Best wishes

I'm so sorry to hear how you are struggling D. Many of us do know how hard it can be. All I can do is to tell you you are not alone, little help as that may be.

I would say stay away from the tinnitus doommongers they are damaging to recovery and recover you will, maybe not in that your T will dissapeared, but it will get better in time and you will find coping strategies that help you. It is family that kept me going initially and you have family too so try and do things you enjoy with them to help you build a more positive frame of mind.

You will cope and find it easier eventually, it's just as others have said it takes so much time and patience.

There will always be people on this board when you need support.

Take care,

C

It's not a long text at all Dean and it's always good to get things off your chest by talking about your feelings and experiences. You've taken some very positive steps towards getting on top of your T and I admire your tenacity and courage. I know that sometimes I also feel totally overwhelmed by tinnitus as it seems to suck the pleasure out of normal life and it can be more than difficult to battle on but I get the impression you're not the type who gives in! You've habituated before and you WILL beat the new issues you're facing. Hang in there and I hope your job interview proves successful. Best wishes.
