Hello everyone: I normally live on the Lupus forum, but thought I might rack your brains in relation to my tinnitus caused by my Meniere's disease.
Nearly Twenty years ago, I was diagnosed with atypical Meniere's disease and a cochlear fluid pressure related disorder.
Normally with Meniere's, one lives a fairly normal, symptom free life with acute episodes of tinnitus, vertigo and a full ear feeling.
With mine, I have constant giddiness, constant tinnitus and the feeling one gets when coming in to land in an aeroplane. I have almost no sense of balance and fall over or stumble very often.
My acute episodes are exactly the same symptoms, but much worse for anything from an hour or two up to a few days.
Within the last two years, I was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) and was put onto a high dose of steroids and a whole host of other medications. It seemed to me that my Meniere's symptoms, including the tinnitus, appear to have eased off somewhat. Once the steroids are reduced, the Meniere's symptoms in general and the tinnitus in particular, return at their original levels.
My question is this:-
Has anyone else been put on steroids (prednisolone) and found their tinnitus has eased or disappeared? Has anyone with Meniere's disease been put on steroids and found their symptoms have improved?
