I have T without hearing loss, silence will never be golden again but with the correct use of white noise and getting stuck into art/music/cycling/work I can manage. Turn T into a positive, start something new and apply your time constructively....feed the mind with possitives and avoid looking for cures, look for coping strategies.

That sounds like a good tip - there's a balance to be struck, especially in the early days, between looking for reliable advice and finding strategies that work for you, and desperately searching for something/anything that doesn't exist (for example, a cure).

Good to hear that you have distractions and coping strategies that help.

Yes, it's a massive learning curve. Tinnitus will, at times overpower you and accepting those times when It's turned up to ten is very hard. I'm pretty sure that mine is related to a neck problem and stress cranks it up. Luckily I have people who allow me to explain it as, unless you are unlucky enough to experience it for yourself you just cannot understand.

Like everyone here, the point of realisation and the dejected walk from the audiology dept is ground zero and it's then time to build, I think pinpointing the frequency of your tinnitus and masking it with a sound of similar frequency can aid sleep.

There are phone apps that have a white noise generating frequency dial. As well as plenty of relax noise apps. I prefer pink noise.

If you're struggling to watch TV with your T, explore creating an intentional secondary distraction.....that you can control..such as white/pink noise....it can aid concentration and knowing that you can kill this distracting sound with the touch of your screen allows your mind to establish control.
