I've had tinnitus for 10 years but recently it has become much more louder. With my tinnitus now been aggrivated but every day noises such as the noise of different road surfaces hurting my ears and the noise of a cup hitting another cup in the cupboard as you get it out. This has gone on for a few weeks now. Am just wondering if anyone else has suffered from this and does it eventually ease off?

Everyday noises effecting my ears
Hi Stozza. When my T first became loud and intrusive I also found the sound of plates chinking together was almost painful to my ears. I think it must be quite common as I've seen quite a few other posts that mention this sound in particular. It's called hyperacusis and it can vary in degree. At it's worst any loud noise can be painful. I'm pleased to say that for me it did ease off after a month or so although it does sort of flare up a bit now and again but it doesn't bother me too much.

Hi Stozza,
Sounds like you have Hyperacusis.
Over sensitive ears.
Build up time around the sounds slowly and remember you are in control and walk away and keep doing that without reacting to it and it should settle down.
If it doesn't white noise generators can help ...lots of love glynis
