It is very uncomfortable, do you think it is connected to my hyperthyroidism?
I've been off carbimazole for approximately 10 ... - Thyroid UK
I've been off carbimazole for approximately 10 months now but have developed a constant swelling in my throat
Yes, probably. Did you have an ultra sound of the thyroid, if not you need one. What did and do your TSH, T4 and Free T3 show now?Other than the swelling, how do you feel.
Best wishes,
Jackie

Hiya, I did have ultrasound that showed swelling but my GP has said that my recent readings are normal, I'm going to make an appointment today and have bloods done again
Do you have an enlarged thyroid ( goitre)?
From experience I know this can cause discomfort and problems swallowing. I had it for 9 years. Even if your blood tests are ok, you can still have a goitre.
Hope you can get it sorted.
Hi If your hyperthyroidism is caused by Graves disease then it is possible to have a goitre (due to Graves) without currently being hyper.
That is not to say that it could be caused by something else but I would ask to see an endo for a scan to put your mind at rest plus closely monitor your regular blood tests.
Good luck.
You need to push for a scan, could be toxic nodules producing extra thryoxine which is making you hyper....I have this currently on carbrimazole but pushed for a scan to see what's happening. I have swelling on left side of thryoid.
I've been to my GP and he has referred me for another ultrasound and full bloods. Thank you for your replies
