Are Dr P's recommendations accepted by GP's as he is now a nutritonalist?

Just a query, should one actually get to see him and get advice on how to proceed are his recommendations accepted by practicing GP's?

In short is it a waste of time/money?

Hi Hunny, Dr P is amazing, lovely and caring, in terms of gp accepting him ummm well no, sorry however he will write up a protocal for you to follow and ask you to order any test he feels you require.

He is not a waste of money, his reecomedations are soley for you to follow, not the g.p if that makes sence.

I suppose if you have other test he has suggested and they come back abnormal this will help your case. A lot of fellow members have had success with Dr P.

xx

So no need for a referral then from GP to begin with?

And hello to you too!

Ask for the private doctors and practitioners list here. His details will be on it.

.

No, his recommendations will not be accepted. Dr P is not a waste of money but remember that he can not actually prescribe.

If he can't prescribe does that not mean we would be back to square one though?

Have seen Dr P about 4 times in the last 4 years - he has enabled me to take charge of my own health - to work out by elimination what is really going on and now I am even beginning to get the NHS on board. I have had to pay for my own meds T3 and supplements , test adrenal saliva and appts with Dr P but having done this have been able to demonstrate to the NHS that I am better on a T3 protocol. I can't have a urine thyroid test as I have had kidney surgery which would alter the results.NHS don't believe my adrenal supplements are required but they are - signs and symptoms all show I'm better on adrenal support.

I share with them the info they need to keep prescribing the T3 and do the rest myself.

I am much better having lost the brain fog, low moods etc but still have energy lows , moving on up though!

Its great to have someone so brilliantly informed, open minded and still eager to learn who will write back to you or speak over the phone whilst you try to mange your signs and symptoms.

Good Luck X

I have been working with Dr P. I like him, his thinking and recommendations. I trust him and the advice he has given me....which has helped me a great deal. My Endo does not support his work.....but then I don't think he supports any theories I have, research etc that I present. However, my Endo does 'negotiate' my care with me.

Dr P is not a waste of money...far from it. You will be given a lot of advice and possible tests you may want to undertake.....this will (I believe) help you to work better with the NHS medical people.

I don't see Dr P as a nutritionalist....he is an endocrine specialist and will talk you through various options which can help you to better understand and manage your unique condition, depending on your symptoms - not just a set of blood tests.

I would recommend Dr P.

Who is Dr P? Where is he based? How do I contact him?

I feel I need his sort of help!

Bless, we are not allowed to give doctors names, but I am sure someone will forward you his number. Dr P is a nutrionalist and a very good one indeed, the problem is not with him or test, it is with the medical proffesionals, who will decline your results, thats if you are advised to order any.

He will advise where to find good nutrion, thats if you are dificient of course, it would be a good choice to have some test before you go, like the 24rh cortisol test for adrenals.

hope this helps x
