i was diagnosed 5 months with under active .i am now on 125 lev and feel worse than i wasn't taking anything. My question is what will happen if i don't take anything oh my tsh level is 78
Hi Davvy Are you having any palpatations or hot sweats? 125mcgs is a lot when tsh is 78. I personally would go back to the Doctor and explain how you feel and I would advise that you wait to see what the Doctor recommends rather than stopping the medication. Maybe you are not converting the T4 to T3. Best Wishes x
Can I just check what you are saying?
Was your TSH 78 when you were diagnosed 5 months ago? Or is it now 78? Or could it be that you have mis-typed it?
And can you explain what is making you write that you feel worse? Are they the same things that you originally had? Or are they new symptoms?
Are you taking any other medicines or supplements?
All the best

I diasgree, TSH of 78 is WAY high, 175 mg is not much at all, if it's been given over a period. I was diagnosed when mine was 450 and my T4 0. It took 2 years to get well. It took 6 months to go from 25mg to 175, now I am on 300. I found that, when your TSH is SO out of whack, it is 3 steps forward, 2 back, and after every dose increase I would feel worse for a while then better. If your TSH is that high you are very poorly indeed. Your body is used to doing without T4 and when it is reintroduced you have to go slowly, going up 25mg every 4-6 weeks, less sometimes. How quickly have you reached this dose? You need to go slowly so you don't react badly. Like I say, it took me years. Losing weight should be normal on levo. Most people who are hypo have gained beforehand. Your metabolism needs to reset. I put on 5 stone before being diagnosed, I lost rapidly for the first 6 months, then never again! Do you have t4 results too?
