Personal problem. I no that your periods can be affected if you have thyroid disease, I've always had heavy periods but since upping my dosage my period has come to a near stop, has this happen to any
Hi Vikkihope, Don't know if my experience will help at all but at least you'll know your not alone.... Have ALWAYS had period problems, started late at 16 were very irregular 26, 36, 47, 56 day's some times. Heavy and painful so prescribed Dianette contraceptive for many years which regulated but didn't change pain or duration. Had several misscarriages inbetween having three wonderful healthy boy's. Periods still heavy and painful so had an Endometrial abalation ( spelling! not my strong point) which has reduced dramatically length, now only 1 or 2 day's instead of 7 and are light but other symptoms still there for the week, headache bloating moods etc etc. Sigh!! No escape... So just waiting for the menopause in 10 years!!! I have found that since being on Levo that I feel they have changed they are lighter and no shooting pains in the legs now I come to think of it.. As all hormones lead to or from the thyroid in some way or other it's possible yours have been affected.. Discuss with your GP as they might be willing to run some hormone tests to eliminate anything else that has changed. Keep smiling ( I know it's difficult!) perks
PS... I haven't read the article but I saw this abstract and link on Thyroid UK.. might be something interesting in it...
Thyroid disease and female reproduction
Clinical Endocrinology Volume 66 Issue 3 Page 309-321, March 2007
The menstrual pattern is influenced by thyroid hormones directly through impact on the ovaries and indirectly through impact on SHBG, PRL and GnRH secretion and coagulation factors. Treating thyroid dysfunction can reverse menstrual abnormalities and thus improve fertility
