Links between dizziness and hypothyroidism.

On Monday evening I suffered from nausea, followed by severe dizziness, fainting and then vomiting. My question is, do people have experience of this being caused by low thyroid levels?

I knew my levels were a bit low, and I was going to do a private test on Tuesday morning, but my friends got me shipped off (from where I was out for the evening) in an ambulance to A&E and from there I went to a ward (where thyroid levels were not tested). So I don’t have any thyroid results yet.

My problem could be BPPV (which I’ve had before), but I’m hoping for an easier solution!!! Has anyone had a thyroid related problem of this kind?

I had a similar thing happen a few years ago and spent a few days in hospital with no balance at all. After lots of tests they decided it was labyrinthitis but I’d also become dehydrated after too much gardening in the sun. Don’t know what my thyroid levels were at the time.

I think you need to repost your question with a change of title - e.g links between dizziness and hypothyroidism?

I’ve probably had low thyroid hormones all my life and have had motion sickness dizziness all my life, too. I’ve never found anything definitive to say they’re connected. My dizziness and nausea episodes are much worse since hypo diagnosis and don’t just happen when I’m travelling but triggered by many things.

(Hypo diagnosis was at the same time as menopause just to complicate causes of things)

I vomited about two weeks ago and felt dizzy with it but I think it was norovirus….theres a lot ‘going round’ in uk at the moment.

There is a link between POTS and hypo although as yet it is unclear what that is. It could be auto immune.
