I have read that people with hypothyroidism have a higher than average chance of having Essential tremor. However it would appear that the medication used to suppress Essential Tremor (e.g. Propanalol) isn't recommended for people with hypothyroidism. I know that a small amount of alcohol is supposed to help, and I have certainly found that to be the case. However it's not a good habit to get into! At the moment my essential tremor is not too bad, but I imagine it is only going to get worse, and I wanted to find out what people with hypothyroidism generally take when the tremor starts to interfere with daily life. Any thoughts?

Essential Tremor and hypothyroidism

Are you sure your hypothyroidism is treated properly as the tremor can arise if it isn't?
Have you had your vitamin levels checked recently to rule these out? B12, folate, vit D
B12 cleared up my husband’s essential tremor and some of our friends too.
I have a relative who very largely resolved their essential tremor with b12 shots or very high oral doses and high doses of B1 - as in the B1 PD protocol. They also have hypothyroidism. Interestingly the effect of b12 cuts in quickly if the ET ticks up.

Looking at previous posts you had dose levo reduced and low vitamin levels
Definitely get FULL Thyroid and vitamin testing done at least annually, privately if necessary
Exactly what vitamin supplements are you taking
I would suggest that you try supplementing magnesium if you haven't already tried it.

Personally, I take magnesium citrate but there are several other forms available.
There is a mention of magnesium in this article from Dr Malcolm Kendrick, and he is worth reading :
