Hello everyone, DHEA results, could anyone advise?

Hi everyone, me again!

So I have been trialling steroids with my Endocrinologist to see how I get along as he suspects borderline / the startings of adrenal insufficiency.

My sweet spot seems to be 5mgs or 2.5mgs when I wake to take the shakes away and then 2.5mgs in the afternoon or after exercise, again to take the shakes and the nose dives of exhaustion away.

It's still a matter in progress as I am still getting some severe dives after I've done too much some afternoons but I am tentatively feeling a little better and the steroids are giving me a bit of life back.

It's still going to take some jiggling around I think to find the sweet spot.

In addition, my FD has suggested taking a DHEA supplement as my saliva DHEA last year was lowish (87) so I had my blood DHEA tested and these are the results :

3 umol / L (ref range 1.65 - 9.15)

As like all my results (πŸ™„) it seems to be low but within 'normal' ranges so could anyone give me an insight into how "normal" this DHEA is and what are optimal numbers and maybe also what other peoples DHEAs have been?

I am going to forward the result onto my endocrinologist and FD because I don't know if this is more of an indication that my adrenals / HPA axis arnt quite right but am just interested in people's thoughts as I have no knowledge of DHEA.

I'm 43 (yesterday 😬)

Thanks πŸ€—

I will leave it to others more knowledgeable than I to advise re DHEA Lucy.

I’m so pleased you are making headway with your health issues. I wish you a happy belated birthday!

Ah thank you, that's very kind 😊 I'm still not fully sure what is going on and I suspect some of it is due to perimenopause and all those changes but I do feel like we are starting to make some headway 😊❀️
