my latest test result is .05 t3 to low
is .o5 t3 to low: my latest test result is .05 t... - Thyroid UK
is .o5 t3 to low
Well, that depends on the range, and whether it's Free T3 or Total T3? Can you give us more info, please?
You can edit you post
Think you mean is TSH 0.5 too low?
Are you on replacement thyroid hormones?
my tsh is .05 yes I am on 175 mg thyroxine
So just testing TSH is totally inadequate
looking at previous posts…..were you previously hyperthyroid and had RAI or thyroidectomy or what is the reason for you hypothyroidism
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 tested
Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins
Low vitamin levels very common on levothyroxine
Low vitamin levels also EXTREMELY common as we get older
What vitamin supplements are you taking
Very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 at least once year minimum
Request GP test vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin

Are you still taking statins
Higher cholesterol associated with low Ft3
Low Ft3 associated with low vitamin levels

If you have an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism), treatment may be delayed until this problem is treated. This is because having an underactive thyroid can lead to an increased cholesterol level, and treating hypothyroidism may cause your cholesterol level to decrease, without the need for statins. Statins are also more likely to cause muscle damage in people with an underactive thyroid.
