Actually the more I read and understand the tosh written under the guise of research the more pity I have for the doctors. So much b@!!@£s and doctors are not so grounded in scientific principles as medicine and science are very different (as I have come to understand). For them to go and fact check the research underpinning the guidelines is impossible , they have neither the time, nor the academic training- their training focused on other things…..They have to trust. It’s almost like a chain of being let down which leads right back to Big Pharma having been allowed to much influence.

I totally agree. I'm starting to pity doctors more and more (I hope it is not Stockholm syndrome ). I'm sure most of them became doctors to do some good in this world. Their education is brutal. Then they are released into their gilded cage of rules and system and bureaucracy and time restrained and probably a whole lot of other adversities we might not be aware of (in the States there is the constant threat of being sued). And on top of it all they are humans who need to pretend they are gods even as their status as gods is crumbling and they are being pulled off the pedestal. I have a friend whose daughter thinks she wants to be a doctor and the first words out of my mouth were, "Talk her out of it. That's a total sh*t job." And his answer was, "I know." As humans they develop coping mechanisms that suit their personality. Some are letting their frustration out on the patient in different ways, others don't care anymore, some completely break down and pack it in. My daughter had two fellow students who switched from human to veterinary medicine and two of my doctors had burn out. The suicide rate in this profession is high.

Having said that, I do not condone or enjoy being treated in a manner that has a spectrum from uncomfortable to downright life threatening. When it comes down to it, both doctors and patients are victims of the same system. Polarization is happening here as it is everywhere. It's not helpful for anybody. We need to find a way to work together against the system instead of against each other.

Oh dear, talking about getting off topic! Again. Do I see another New Year's resolution lurking? 🤷‍♂️

I totally concur - everyone is let down by the current set-up ........except the Pharma companies.

Thanks Buddy, reminds me of our mantra when I did my teacher training back in the very late nineteen sixties ‘ Every child is an individual’. Perhaps that could be adapted to ‘Every patient is an individual’ 🎄

PubMed - entirely up to you whether or not you join.

There are a few things you can do like set up alerts if you join, but you do NOT need to join just to view things.

Similar for the PubMed Central and the MDPI sites.
