Firstly, I'd like to say thank you for all the wonderful support yesterday.
This mornings appointment seemed to go quite well and we've agreed no treatment yet and retest in 6 weeks time, just in case it was an inflamed thyroid and the issue was exasperated by the carbimazole. If the results are then still abnormal we'll investigate the cause.
I've also been told to get a GP referral for ENT to check out my balance issues, as the doctor said my description of it sounds more like inner ear problems.
Time will tell I suppose 🤞

I wondered the same myself. Did a quick Google and apparently it's because our GPs have all our medical history and not just that relevant to the specialist we're seeing. Still seems daft to me though 🤔

Low B12 is one of many causes of poor balance. Since good levels of folate are required for the body to make use of your B12, low folate can cause balance problems too. This also explains why there is so much cross-over between low B12 symptoms and low folate symptoms.
If it turns out that your B12 and folate are low it is essential that B12 supplementation is started a few days or a week before folate supplementation is started.
