Would I be able to conceive naturally after a total thyroidectomy due to Graves’ disease. Before that I had no luck, would I have a higher chance now? I’m 25
does anyone have any advice or success stories?

Have you got full thyroid and vitamin testing done yet
Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after each dose change or brand change in levothyroxine
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 tested.
Very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 at least once year minimum
Low vitamin levels are extremely common with Graves’ disease
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins

Test for coeliac BEFORE cutting gluten out
Hi. Welll, I also had Graves 44 years ago and had a total thyroidectomy. I have had one son, then a miscarriage, daughter then miscarried a twin and two weeks later miscarried the second twin. Best of luck x
Yes! I have a success story for you. I had a thyroidectomy aged 21 for graves. I was diagnosed with endometriosis at aged 28, I never had regular periods. At 32 I was seeing a nutritionist for something else and so was eating very healthily, and taking vitamins. I got pregnant first time of trying with my eldest daughter, I then got pregnant first time of trying with my youngest daughter at aged 38. So, there is hope.
Hi there. Well, I developed an over active thyroid after the birth of my first son and had 7/8ths of my thyroid removed when my son was 15 months old. The 1/8th of thyroid I was left with didn't work anyway so no point leaving it there? I went on to have another son without any problem at all. Good Luck to you.
Hi! I had my total thyroidectomy when I was 23 years old and doctor said that I can start having kids back then. I was only able to conceive by 30 and 33 years old respectively as I was also having PCOS. But now's the great time for you to have babies as you have low to zero risk of passing to them our illness.
